Summer Career Accelerator Programs
Explore Careers this Summer with JCPS
The deadline has passed to register for the JCPS Summer Career Accelerator. Registrations are being processed, and RSVP forms are being emailed to applicants. Those who have not received an RSVP form by May 15 have been added to a waitlist. Should a seat become available, parents/guardians will be contacted with next steps.
FREE for JCPS students in grades 6-12, the 2024 Summer Career Accelerator Program includes opportunities to explore careers and prepare for the world of work.
- Lunch and transportation will be provided for JCPS students.
- Space is limited. JCPS students will be given first priority into summer programs.
- No CTE summer programs will take place on June 19, 2024.
- APRIL 15 – Priority Registration Deadline; MAY 12 – Final Registration Deadline

Summer 2024 Offerings
Career Investigations Labs
The ultimate career exploration opportunity to engage in authentic problem-based learning across a variety of career clusters.
Eligibility: Rising grades 6-8
Locations: Archer Lodge Middle & Innovation Academy
Dates: June 17, 18, 20 -or- June 24-27
Must commit to one week
Time: 7:45 AM – 1:00 PM
LEGO Robotics Camp
A hands-on, playful learning experience using LEGO Education’s SPIKE Prime curriculum to engage students in STEAM learning.
Eligibility: Rising grades 6-8
Location: North Johnston High
Dates: June 17, 18, 20, 24-27
Must commit to the full 7 days
Time: 7:45 AM – 1:00 PM
Startup High
An entrepreneurial-focused program in partnership with Campbell University allowing students to network with local entrepreneurs, develop a pitch, and explore rejection therapy. Requires some short-distance walking to downtown businesses.
Eligibility: Rising grades 7-9
Locations: Dowtown Benson, Clayton, or Smithfield
Dates: June 17, 18, 20 -or- June 24-27
Must commit to one week
Time: 7:45 AM – 1:00 PM
Public Safety Camp
Explore the careers of Firefighter and Emergency Management Technician through hands-on experiences in this 7-day camp.
Eligibility: Rising grades 7-8 from Clayton Middle and Riverwood Middle only
Location: Clayton High School
Dates: June 17, 18, 20, 24-27
Must commit to the full 7 days
Time: 7:45 AM – 1:00 PM
Math to Careers: PEAK PBL Camp
Connect the relevance of math to STEM careers through the project-based learning and the engineering design process.
Eligibility: Rising 9th graders scheduled to take Math I
Location: Smithfield-Selma High School
Dates: June 17, 18, 20, 24-27

District C - Leaders at Work Teamship
Certified District C CTE Coaching Fellows facilitate a teamship where students work together to solve real problems for local businesses. A final pitch event allows students to present their proposal to the business.*
Eligibility: Rising grades 10-12
Locations: Clayton, Cleveland, North Johnston, & Smithfield-Selma High Schools
Dates: June 17, 18, 20, 24-27
