Cleveland High School Uses Creativity to Promote CTE
The Adobe Visual Design II (AVDII) class at Cleveland High School (CVHS) brought creativity and collaboration to life with their ongoing project, CTExplore, a monthly newsletter to promote CTE programs and students. The newsletter highlights the unique opportunities and experiences offered by CTE classes while giving AVDII students real-world experience in design and publishing using Adobe InDesign software. This software is the industry-standard layout software for creating high-quality print and digital products.
CTExplore is more than a design assignment; it is a comprehensive project that engages students in every step of the design process. Students are assigned a different task for each issue to gain experience in various skills, such as design, content development, and photography. Students collaborate to create, edit, and finalize content. Upon completion, students submit their work to Editor Jeremy Graham who reviews and prepares the newsletter for publication. The newsletter is distributed via email and shared on the school’s Facebook page, reaching a broad audience to promote CVHS CTE programs and students. In addition to developing technical skills, this project offers valuable experience in project management, teamwork, and communication. CTExplore is a great example of the power of real-world learning to prepare students for success.
