Pre-Apprenticeship Sparks Career for Former Student

Eric Gonzalez, a recent high school graduate from West Johnston High School, is embarking on an exciting new chapter as he begins his apprenticeship with the Town of Clayton. With a strong passion for the electrical field, Gonzalez is thrilled about the opportunity to advance his skills and career in this dynamic industry.

“I’m really grateful for this chance to dive into the electrical field,” Gonzalez shared. “I feel lucky to have landed this job, and the people here are amazing mentors and just great to work with.”

Gonzalez credits his senior year Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship with significantly preparing him for this role. The hands-on experience he gained with the tools he now uses, combined with valuable industry insights, played a crucial role in his readiness for the apprenticeship. Additionally, the connections he made during his Pre-Apprenticeship were instrumental in securing his position with the Town of Clayton.

He also extended his gratitude to the JCPS CTE Team and his Career Development Coordinator Amanda Fisher, for their support and guidance in helping him enter this promising program. As Gonzalez begins this new role, his excitement for the upcoming opportunities are evident, signaling the start of what looks to be a fulfilling career in the electrical field.
